All Afield Monthly Hike - Base and Meridian Wildlife Area

  • May 18, 2024
  • 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM
  • Base and Meridian Wildlife Area, S AVONDALE Blvd, Avondale, AZ 85323

Base and Meridian Wildlife Area is nearly 200 acres large and provides prime access to riparian and wetland habitats on the north bank of the Gila River at the confluence with the Salt River. This area has a wide variety of bird species, including the federally endangered Western yellow-billed cuckoo!

Join us for an easy, hour-long hike on May 18th at 7 am. There are no designated trails in this area, so we will walk where the wind takes us! We'll be utilizing the mobile app E-Bird on this hike to help us identify bird species in the area — we suggest downloading this app prior to the hike.

Please meet us at the dirt parking area by the entrance (there is a stretch of dirt next to the road into the wildlife area — this is where you'll park).

Note — Base and Meridian Wildlife Area is pet-friendly and this hike is stroller-friendly, as the hike will be on flat ground with no inclines.
